You have an engineering degree (or equivalent university degree). You have at least 5 years of professional experience in technical design and building construction, and you are familiar with construction engineering standards, rules and regulations, including cost dimensions.

You have knowledge of sustainable building performance, including BREEAM and LEED, and the evaluation of low impact building materials.
You are familiar with project development and technical risk analysis management.

You have the ability to synthesise, analyse and anticipate risks and present your ideas in a clear and structured manner. You also understand the importance of interaction with all project stakeholders, although you can also work independently.
You are familiar with project management and design tools, as well as other common office software.

What you'll be doing day to day
This position is located in Plaisir, at IKEA's French headquarters. You will work in the Construction team and report to the Cluster Construction Manager.
Your role within the cluster will be as follows
Provide technical expertise based on current IKEA Group standards and best national applications to deliver optimised construction solutions.
Evaluate technical aspects of new construction processes and follow developments in the engineering field.
Lead and drive all engineering work in the cluster and harmonise the implementation and communication of these activities with all internal and external stakeholders, in the current main areas of expertise: structural and architectural design, risk and fire engineering, HVAC systems and energy model, electrical systems, life cycle cost assessments and calculations, technical solutions and innovations for environmental aspects and certification, design management.
Assist construction project managers to :
Clarify all IKEA Group requirements, standards and guidelines.
Manage the selection process of external consultants
Ensure detailed architectural and technical design
Negotiate alternative technical solutions in tenders for IKEA projects.
Control the quality of design and construction work
Maintain and update knowledge and understanding of all regulations, guidelines and initiatives issued by the Group's real estate department; ensure that they are communicated to construction project managers and external partners as appropriate
Cooperate with the Facility department of the division to develop best practices, obtain feedback and increase the technical knowledge of the Facility staff.
Ensure that the commissioning, testing, training and handover of technical and construction systems are satisfactory for the cluster's Facility staff.
You are decisive in the planning phase, and you are able to coordinate and lead activities (including dematerialisation) to help establish strategic decisions and achieve company goals. In addition, you are motivated to objectively collect, organise and analyse digital and other information sources.
Regular international and national travel is required for this position.

It provides strategic insight based on its knowledge, vision and understanding of the property portfolio. The Real Estate department leads developments in safety, regulatory compliance, sustainability and building innovation. It actively ensures that the property portfolio is maintained in good condition to support the business.
The Real Estate Cluster Europe West department is responsible for the property portfolio in France, Belgium and the Netherlands. The position is located in Plaisir at the IKEA France Head Office (Service Office).
